I’ve got the whole universe in me.
And sweetheart, so do YOU.
Our bodies are made up of the same elements as the moon and stars. Carl Sagan said it perfectly “The nitrogen in our DNA, the calcium in our teeth, the iron in our blood, the carbon in our apple pies were made in the interiors of collapsing stars. We are made of star stuff.”
STAR stuff. LOVE that!
There are even parts of the body that look or have a function that is very similar to other things in the universe. Your atoms have a nucleus and a whole whack of “invisible” space in between! Your brain looks like a walnut. Your veins are like rivers. Our neurons look like trees – equipped with a “trunk” (axon) and “branches” (dendrites). And just as your body has intelligence, so does the universe.
Literally, everything is one huge living, breathing entity. And everything is inherently connected. Look at how at all the similar patterns, cycles or functions that are mirrored throughout the universe. Stars have cycles of birth, life, and “death”. As do we. Look at images of a hurricane’s eye, spiral galaxies, and the human eye. Cut an apple in half and compare it to an image of the earth’s magnetic field. (More on all this stuff in future posts!).
You. Me. Apple pies. Saturn.
We go wayyyy back!
Maybe thinking about the stars and imagining the vastness of the universe makes you feel insignificant. Maybe you think your life is insignificant. Or maybe it’s a miracle….
“When I look up at the night sky..I feel big because my atoms came from those stars.”
Neil deGrasse Tyson
